Happy Thanksgiving, All!

I just wanted to wish y’all a Happy Thanksgiving and let you in on a couple pictures of our dinner…we have much to be thankful for, especially the yummy food! Our menu this year included a brined Turkey, Homemade (from scratch) dressing, Mashed Potatoes, Sweet Potatoes, Green Beans, Homemade Gravy, Green Bean Casserole, Homemade Yeast Rolls, Deviled Eggs, Green and Black Olives, Sweet Pickles, Homemade Praline Pecans, Homemade Dutch Apple Pie, Sparkling Cider (both Strawberry and Cranberry), and Homemade French Vanilla Pumpkin Pie! We had a good time and played games after dinner, so despite the loss of sleep from staying up half the night making all this and getting back up 2 hours later to start the turkey, it was well worth it. There’s nothing like spending time with your family!

The munchkin’s favorite part was the Praline Pecans, my favorite was the Pumpkin Pie, and hubby’s favorite was the turkey-best he’s ever had-what a compliment! (For those on the fence about brining your poultry before cooking it, TRY IT, it’s well worth the effort and cooks twice as fast when brined!)

A few pics from our bountiful harvest:

And my lovely family-starving to death as I had them stand there while I took this picture…smelling and looking at all that food!

  1. Hi…its Lisa94 from PH.
    Your dinner looks gorgeous!
Oh and please do tell how to make the pecan pralines. I think it would be my favorite too!

  2. Oh, it’s soooooo simple, but extremely yummy!
    Here’s the recipe:
Pecan Praline Morsels-Recipe courtesy of Paula Deen
    2 cup whole pecans
1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
    4 tablespoon heavy cream

In a medium bowl, combine all ingredients. Spread into a square baking pan, sprayed with cooking spray. Bake in a 350 degree, preheated oven for about 20 minutes, or until coating is dry, and slightly crystallized, stirring once. Remove from oven to cool and stir once more. If not serving immediately, store in an airtight container.

    Yield: 2 cups sugared pecans
    Preparation time: 5 minutes
    Cooking time: 20 minutes
    Ease of preparation: Easy

  3. Oh thank you! I think I will make those for Christmas!
